The monthly house price index report was released this week with some encouraging news about the Auckland market and some interesting feedback from regular commentators.

I felt little surprise in the 1.4% fall in nationwide house prices. I was though, pleasantly surprised by evidence of the continued robust nature of our Auckland market, which provided yet more growth through increasing house prices, up 3.7% from May 2009.

The number of homes sold nationwide remains virtually the same and the less than aggressive tax changes and interest rate rises that eventuated have not only cleared the air, but have provided a level of certainty that suits our area well.
